About
Andy Turnbull is an expert cataract, lens and laser refractive surgeon based in Dorset and Hampshire. He has completed two corneal and refractive fellowships, including one with Professor Graham Barrett (Australia), as well as training in iris reconstruction with Professors Ike Ahmed (Canada) and Michael Snyder (USA).
As part of his NHS Consultant post at University Hospitals Dorset, he is the Clinical Lead for Cataract Surgery as well as College Tutor (lead for ophthalmic surgical training).
His private practice, South Coast Vision, has been established in Bournemouth since 2020 and focuses on premium cataract and refractive lens and laser surgery, aiming to help you both enhance your quality of vision and reduce your need for glasses. Consultations and lens surgery are undertaken in Bournemouth and laser vision correction is performed at Laser Vision Eye Centre near Southampton.
Andy is a Visiting Professor at Ulster University and leads the PGDipCRS modules on lens surgery, phakic lens implants and astigmatism. He sits on the Council of the United Kingdom and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (UKISCRS) and is an elected Fellow of the World College of Refractive Surgery and Visual Sciences. He has published over 20 peer-reviewed papers and is regularly invited to speak nationally and internationally.
